What distinguishes Personal Coaching, Coach Mentoring and
Coach Supervision?
Personal Coaching is all about supporting you in moving forward with a specific project in your personal and/or professional life. Different coaches have different areas of expertise. At Essencial Conversations, I specialize in supporting individuals who are looking to increase their sense of self-confidence as they embrace a new opportunity.
Coach Mentoring is meant to help new or established coaches fine-tune their coaching skills. At Essencial Conversations, mentoring is generally organized around the ICF Core Competencies, as coaches going for the ACSTH or Portfolio route need 10 mentoring hours as part of their ICF-accreditation process (they are also required to provide the ICF with one or two recorded sessions for review by independent assessors). I specialize in ACC and PCC-level accreditations.
As for Coach Supervision, it is generally meant for the active coach who is looking to have a more global, reflective and in-depth conversation about their coaching practice as well as address specific client cases. Supervision looks to serve the coach, their clients and their organizations. It has three main functions: a formative function, by focusing on the development of the coach’s skills; a normative function, by bringing attention to the quality of services offered by the coach, including their adherence to ethical practices; and a restorative function, by supporting the coach in his/her interactions with his/her clients and the systems they operate in.
